There are 7 days left before the Daley’s will be packed and on the road in a 36-foot travel trailer with our 4 kids and hit the road on an epic business and personal adventure around the outer edge of the US.
We hoped you enjoyed some time to “Thrive” this Christmas. We took a little break from the blog over the past few days as we decorated trees, wrapped presents, attended a Christmas Eve service, and settled into all of our Christmas traditions. This was one of the few years we stayed in Colorado and just celebrated with the 6 of us. It was really special. Other Christmas’ have been special as well. Making the drive to South Carolina and spending some great time with our extended families has been a source of great joy, yet this year was special. We started the day before (Christmas Eve) as we opened a family game. The kids were begging to open a gift and then felt a little trapped when we agreed with the caveat that we pick it and then play it. We had a few frowns at first, but the game was a great choice and soon everyone was laughing and having a great time. We watched a movie and then the kids had a sleepover in the living room.
This year was special because it felt slower. We eased into everything and got to savor it. We spent most of the next day just enjoying the gifts we gave each other as the day slowly drifted on. I realized in the day that I had just been kind of surviving. All the hustle to get ready for this trip has been needed, and I am ready for the trip to just happen. The last of Xcelerate’s Values is “Thrive, Not Survive.” We wanted to build a company that helped people Thrive. This value has affected many areas, but what comes to mind is our team. We have hired almost exclusively part-time people, many who are work-at-home mom’s. This is because we love to help a family thrive by allowing a mom to be with her kids and still add to the family’s finances. We ask ourselves and encourage our team to ask “Will moving into this role help you thrive”? Christmas this year was a great time to thrive.
